Sir Alex Ferguson pointed the finger at Roberto Mancini‘s tactics as the reason behind one of the duller Manchester derbies in recent times but the Italian has defended his right to play for a point, adding that his players were fatigued.

“We need to win every game now. We don’t just need to win against City – we are looking to win the league. When we start the season we think about winning every game.

“I can say it would be nice to beat City because it’s a special game. It’s the derby and everyone wants to win, but it’s not the priority. The priority is to win the league but make sure we don’t lose the derby.”

Meanwhile, Carlos Tevez has said he is disappointed Wayne Rooney did not follow him to Eastlands.

Rooney had been strongly linked with a move to City after he confirmed he wanted to leave United due to the club’s failure to bring in quality, established players, but he then signed a new long-term deal at Old Trafford. Read more of this post
